Ginger Aid
Ingredients:
2 oz The Professors Gin (McMenamins, or any botanical gin will do, such as Hendricks)
1 oz simple syrup, made with brown sugar
2 oz lime juice
splash of Apple Cider Vinegar
two drops of Cholula hot sauce
1 tsp pureed ginger

Directions:
Pour 2 oz gin in martini shaker over ice.
Meanwhile, boil a shot of water, the brown sugar, hot sauce, 1 oz lime juice and vinegar, stirring constantly.  Add ginger, turn off heat.
Pour 1oz lime juice into a highball glass.  Shake rest of the ingredients into the glass until well blended.  Strain into glass and add ice; garnishment to taste, enjoy!

A colorful interpretation of The Devil's Handshake with the items I had in my fridge.
Ingredients:
3/4 part brown sugar simple syrup*
1.5 parts tequila reposado
3/4 part lime juice
1 teaspoon pureed ginger*
3 parts orange juice
Lime garnish

Simple Syrup: 1 part water, 2 parts brown sugar.  Boil until sugar is dissolved, stirring constantly.  Remove from heat immediately.

Ginger Puree: If using fresh ginger, peel and chop, then puree in a food processor until smooth.  If using chopped ginger in a jar (like Christopher Ranch chopped ginger), you're good to go!

Combine all parts over ice in a cocktail shaker.  Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds and strain into highball glass.  Garnish with a lime.
